University of Florida (UF) ADA Curb Ramps at Stadium Road and Gale Lemerand Drive

American Disability Act (ADA) compliance is difficult for every higher education provider in the country. The ramps and crosswalks at this prominent intersection did not comply with current ADA standards. Buses were also having problems with safely alighting disabled passengers.  The challenge was designing a solution that fit into the adjacent infrastructure constraints.

DRMP provided precise surveying and engineering services that resulted in a completely ADA compliant intersection and bus alighting facility.  In addition to solving the ADA problems, DRMP provided a unique structural solution to a nearby curb inlet that was frequently damaged by bus traffic.

The overall safety of the intersection was increased and the University of Florida was able to remove the intersection from its list of deficient facilities.
