Shingle Creek Trail Pedestrian Bridge

DRMP designed a multi-use trail pedestrian bridge just south of Whisper Lakes Boulevard and parallel to two roadway bridges on South John Young Parkway in Orange County, Florida.

Bridge design included a 67-foot, 3-inch pedestrian bridge and three boardwalks totaling 2,600-feet.  The pedestrian bridge is supported by three AASHTO Type II Beams.  Since the pedestrian bridge is downstream of the roadway bridges, the pedestrian bridge has been designed with a wider hydraulic opening to simplify the bridge hydraulic analysis. To extend boardwalk life, the boardwalk is composed of a concrete deck supported on 14-inch square prestressed concrete piles.

The project provided the community with a scenic multi-use trail and with the selection of a concrete boardwalk the client received long-term cost savings.
