SR 100 Sidewalk

Flagler County, Florida, sought a multi-faceted firm to provide professional engineering services for the addition of sidewalk along the northside of SR 100 from Bulldog Drive to Roberts Road. The addition of sidewalk required extensive utility coordination and transportation design.

DRMP was selected to provide the services for this project, which included an 8-foot sidewalk. The approximate length of the sidewalk was 3.5-miles. Many of the design challenges stemmed from the placement of the proposed 8-foot sidewalk on an existing 5-foot berm. This project included updating the drainage ditches based on the proposed sidewalk impacts and adding pedestrian features at the signalized intersections within the project limits.  Development of a proposed profile that met existing topographical features and met ADA requirements was also a challenge.

Designs were developed to provide Flagler County with minimal construction and upkeep cost. The updated drainage system allows for increased safety on the sidewalk and roadway during heavy rain. The sidewalk provides a path to travel without impeding traffic or posing a safety risk.
