At DRMP Since:
“I appreciate the support and different perspectives of my colleagues. When we collaborate I know we’re producing the best results for our clients.”
What inspired you to choose your career path?
I enjoyed construction from an early age. My dad was a construction worker and I loved to build things. I learned that engineers got to design the projects so that became my goal.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
People! I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and seeing them come together to work toward a common goal, regardless of their background.
What are you most passionate about?
My family. Having spent a lot of time away from my family on military deployments, I have learned to value every minute I get to spend with them.
What is your greatest challenge?
Making sure the gotta-do’s don’t get in the way of the should-do’s. We all have things that we have to get done every day, which sometimes makes you lose sight of things you really should do, even though nobody is asking you for it.
Name an important "lessons learned" moment you have experienced.
When I went from my first to my second assignment, I had an appointment to meet my new commander on the first day there. I was surprised to find out that he already knew about me, my strengths and weaknesses, and had generally already formed an opinion about me. He had called around to my previous boss and other people that knew me. That’s when it hit me how important relationships are. Whether you’re designing, marketing, or administrating, how you treat and work with people shapes your reputation and it travels with you.
