Surveying & Mapping/Geospatial
At DRMP Since:
“I have the confidence that I am able to do my best work because DRMP invests in the latest equipment and technology to ensure staff stays current.”
What inspired you to choose your career path?
I have been around surveying/engineering my whole life, as my father is a Professional Engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation and also has a Bachelor degree in land surveying. I have always enjoyed history, math and the outdoors. I felt that the profession of land surveying would afford me with an opportunity to enjoy all three on a regular basis.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The opportunity to trace back in time prior generations of survey work, and to have the opportunity to use advanced technology and surveying methods all in the same day. It is interesting researching old records and documents while following the footsteps of prior professionals.
What are you most passionate about?
Besides working in the surveying profession, I am very passionate about working on my Honda Civic and Mazda Miata, and using them to compete in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and track events. I also enjoy riding motorcycles with my friends and spending time together with my wife and friends.
What is your greatest challenge?
Pushing myself to become a better and more knowledgeable surveyor is always a welcome challenge and I strive every day to learn something new on the job.
Name an important "lessons learned" moment you have experienced.
A lesson learned moment I have experienced is to not rush through tasks or projects, but to take my time and strive for quality. Carefully reviewing your data will save you time in the future, as well as eliminate the likelihood of mistakes.
