East Olive Road (CR 290) Corridor Management Study

Escambia County, in Florida’s panhandle, sought a firm to provide a corridor management transportation planning study for East Olive Road (CR 290) from Davis Highway (SR 291) to Scenic Highway (US 90/SR 10A).

DRMP provided transportation planning and professional engineering services for this 3.1-mile corridor study project. The corridor planning study included engineering and environmental analysis as well as public input in the development of concepts for safety improvements, access management and multi-modal connectivity while limiting impacts on the existing residential and commercial properties. The recommended improvements included widening of the existing 2-lane major collector with the addition of a center landscaped median, turn lanes, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, median openings and improvements and realignment of existing intersections.

The study provided Escambia County with approved alternatives for advancing safety improvement projects with increased accommodation for bicycle, pedestrian and transit facilities.  The study corridor was subsequently divided into two segments and the first of those, from Davis Highway to Ninth Avenue, has advanced to the design and construction phase.
