Celebrating National Surveyors Week 2024

March 18th, 2024

National Surveyors Week honors the important work of surveyors in shaping our communities. From mapping out infrastructure projects to delineating property boundaries, surveyors ensure the accuracy and integrity of land use, development, and navigation. DRMP surveyors are doing their part to promote the profession to students through STEM education and serving as ambassadors for the Get Kids into Survey global initiative. Here's what some of our surveyors had to say about the importance of educating the next generation of surveyors.

Geospatial Services Division Manager
“Surveying is the foundation of every engineering project, and the youth are the foundation of our future. With the rapid decline of licensed surveyors in the state of Florida, it is imperative that we inform and educate the next generation of not only what surveying is but why it is so important. “

Melissa Padilla Cintron, SIT
Survey Analyst

"It’s no secret that the Surveying industry faces a shortage of professionals. Unfortunately, our profession isn’t well known. That’s why it’s important for us to engage with the community and convey the significance of our work. Surveying is an excellent career path and can be fun! Inspiring students is essential for the future and growth of our profession.”

Mary Voor, SIT
Survey Analyst

"Many high school students aren’t aware of surveying as a field, and it’s important for us to inform them of the opportunities available by sharing our stories as well as the exciting projects we’ve worked on. Taking an active role in the community and participating in school events is a great way to show students you care about their success and inspire them to grow into a profession in surveying."
