505 West Chapel Hill Street

The Fallon Company tasked Ramey Kemp Associates (RKA) with preparing a Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) for the redevelopment of the Durham police headquarters building. The City of Durham sought to redevelop the property with a new building into a multi-use development compromised of residential units, office space, and retail space.

RKA’s analysis had to reflect the traffic considerations of each use as part of the redevelopment. Additionally, the development is in a high traffic area in Durham, so RKA had to make several design recommendations to minimize traffic congestion. Those recommendations included lane creations, restriping, and signal modifications.

Once implemented, the recommendations will improve the quality of life for those in the City of Durham who live, work, and shop at and around the new development.
