M-1 Canal Water Main Extension

DRMP engineers and surveyors provided services for the City of West Melbourne, Fla. to extend and connect a 16-inch water main along Brevard County’s M1 Canal from its terminus west of Wickham Road to an existing water main east of Dairy Road for two miles.

The project team performed a route study to determine the best route for the water main along with topographic and subsurface utility engineering. DRMP designed a directionally drilled water main to lessen impacts to the heavily treed areas along the route and to accommodate for the various deep canals and major road crossings. The project also required connections with existing West Melbourne water mains along the route to provide redundancy for local neighborhoods.

DRMP’s engineering and surveying services provide the City with a new water main that successfully expanded the customer base and provided more redundancy in the West Melbourne water system and a secure water system for area neighborhoods.
