City of Lakeland Main Street Beautification

This Main Street Beautification was a $785,000 FDOT Local Agency Program (LAP) funded project in Lakeland, Florida. The City of Lakeland needed a firm to provide full Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) services for the project.

DRMP provided full CEI services on this FDOT LAP project, Main Street Beautification from Bartow Road to Lake Bonny Drive. Work involved milling and resurfacing, asphalt micro-surfacing, construction of raised medians with bedding material, irrigation and landscaping. Construction resulted in a changed configuration of the roadway in some places from 4-lanes to 2-lanes with bicycle lanes included throughout the length of the project. Additional improvements also included the removal of the signal from the Gary Road intersection to make it a four-way stop, improved crosswalks at the Ingraham intersection to brick pavers and improved bus stops. Work activities included regular excavation, embankment, concrete curb, brick pavers, concrete sidewalk, bedding material preparation, irrigation, landscaping, asphalt, signalization (video detection), utility location and other associated activities.

DRMP staff were also responsible for providing all required federal contract reporting services in a manner to determine contractor compliance with all FDOT and LAP, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) reporting requirements.
