Lake Hart Off-Site Wetlands Mitigation Site

GCB Associates, Inc. needed a firm to provide ecological services for a Lake Hart Off-Site Wetlands Mitigation site. This project was proposed to satisfy wetland impacts necessary for the World Gateway project along International Drive in Orlando, Florida.

This project involved restoration of approximately 110-acres of historic wetlands that had been ditched and drained for conversion to cattle pasture. Hydrology was restored to the site by blocking and regrading the existing ditch network throughout the site. Portions of the site could re-vegetate naturally, while other areas were planted with wetland dependent tree species based on the developed planting plan. DRMP secured the Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) through South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).

With DRMP’s assistance, the wetlands will continue to work towards the goal of 100 percent restoration.
