Tampa, Fla. – Bruno Arriola, PE, was named the 2021 Secretary of the year by the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Tampa Bay Chapter for his years of involvement and dedication to the organization. He has been with the organization for more than five years and in 2016 he was named the ASHE Tampa Bay Young Engineer of the Year.
He has been the Membership Chair of the organization for the past four years and this will be his first year as part of the Tampa Bay Chapter’s Board. In this role, he will serve as a general administrative assistant and be responsible for the coordination of events, record minutes of all actions taken at section meetings, keep a current roster of section members and mailing list, establishing communication with the National Chapter, event presenters, chapter members, event attendees and more.
“At the technical presentations and luncheons we get to learn more about new design standards and technologies that apply to our industry,” said Arriola. “We get to know our clients better as well as network with colleagues and chapter members.”
Arriola’s goal is to follow the previous secretary’s steps to ensure events are interesting and run smoothly. He encourages others to join ASHE and take advantage of the opportunities they offer.
“ASHE is a good organization to be a part of because it provides an opportunity for education, fellowship and innovation in the transportation industry, which is what I have focused on in my career,” said Arriola. “It’s a great way to network and establish relationships with professionals in our trade.”
