DRMP Wins ASCE Florida Section – Ridge Branch Project of the Year

April 25th, 2022

Lakeland, Fla. – DRMP was awarded the 2021 Project of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Florida Section – Ridge Branch for the Lakeland Park Drive Connector project for the City of Lakeland, Fla.  The ASCE recognized the project because of the innovative solutions applied to work around major environmental challenges for the connecting roadway to be built.

DRMP provided construction engineering inspection (CEI) services for this 0.42-mile new construction roadway project that connects Lakeland Park Drive to Carpenters Way. Through DRMP’s efforts and determination from the CEI team, the firm was able to help meet the City’s goal of connecting Lakeland Park Drive to Carpenters Way despite the challenges associated with building the road through a wetland while applying complex elevation solutions.

The Lakeland Park Drive Connector is designed to provide two new travel lanes, a 10-foot wide shared-use path, street lighting, and a new three-way stop intersection at Carpenters Way. Innovative features of the project include a wetland mitigation area, large mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls, and wetland sheet pile walls with integrated drainage outfalls. The project is on schedule to be completed at the end of this month.
