DRMP Promotes Jeff Miller to Lead Visualization Designer

January 31st, 2023

ORLANDO, Fla. – DRMP has promoted Jeff Miller to Lead Visualization Designer in the firm’s Marketing Department. Miller has been instrumental in advancing the firm’s graphic design technology and attracting clients seeking DRMP’s Visualization Services to help build public support for projects.

In his new role, Miller’s responsibilities include creating 3D models, renderings, typical sections, aerial displays, photo simulations, and visualizations (digital and print) for project pursuits, corporate communications, and public meetings. Additionally, his duties include creating videos and motion graphics and conducting visualization training.

Since joining DRMP in 2003, Miller served as Senior Planner and Designer, Graphic Designer, and Graphics and Visualization Coordinator. Miller has an Associate of Science degree in Digital Media/Graphic Design Specialization from Seminole State College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Los Angeles Pacific University.

DRMP initially hired Miller to help support the firm’s Project Development & Environment Department with graphics for presentations and public meetings. At the time, DRMP did not offer 3D design capabilities and instead presented projects in 2D (flatwork) graphics, Miller recalled.  His knowledge of 3D design prompted DRMP to invest in the proper software and move toward more sophisticated visuals.

“Today, with the advancement of 3D software, our engineers and graphic designers are working together to create highly impressive visualizations of our projects,” Miller said. “3D modeling and rendering is becoming the standard for creating visuals for our clients.”

One of Miller’s most noteworthy and high-profile projects entailed creating 3D modeling and renderings for the award-winning A. Max Brewer Bridge in Titusville, Fla. He said his biggest challenge during the project was visualizing the up lighting of the hammerhead piers of the bridge.

“The color temperature and direction of the lighting was critical in representing a true-life condition of the proposed design,” he said.

Miller’s latest project, Cornerstone Park Lighting in The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., represents one of DRMP’s first stand-alone visualization contracts for an outside client.

“We are pushing our 3D capabilities with this project using the latest 3D modeling and rendering software,” he said.

Miller described his promotion as “special.”

“It means all of the late nights and studying for my degrees and working on my own time to develop the skills to work in 3D have afforded me a successful and meaningful career here at DRMP,” Miller said. “For that, I am grateful. This promotion has also led to a leadership role, where I will have the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge of 3D visualization, while building a team and leaving a legacy of quality work for future 3D designers.”

Miller’s supervisor, Graphics and Visualization Manager Laura Walker, said he brings a unique perspective to visualizations by combining his knowledge of engineering into his creative process.

“As our Lead Visualization Designer, Jeff has a lot of 3D knowledge to share with our design staff,” Walker said. “We are eager to take DRMP to the next level in offering full-service visualization services.”
