Reece Ruel, EI, Honored with Young Engineer of the Year Award

February 28th, 2023

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – Congratulations to Roadway Engineer Reece Ruel, EI, for receiving the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Tampa Bay Chapter 2023 Young Engineer of the Year Award for his professional accomplishments and service to the profession.

Ruel has served as the membership chair for the ASHE Tampa Bay Chapter for three years after fellow DRMP colleague Project Engineer Bruno Arriola, PE, ENV SP, left the position to become secretary of the organization.

“Being recognized for your hard work isn’t something that happens every day or to everyone,” Ruel said. “To be given an award for my efforts truly makes me feel honored. It’s always great to feel valued where you work.”

Ruel started his career with DRMP in 2018 after graduating from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is responsible for leading in the production of plans for projects in DRMP’s Tampa Bay office.

Ruel’s supervisor, Pavan Paiavula, PE, commended him for his leadership skills and involvement in professional organizations.

“Reece is an ambitious and highly skilled engineer who delivers excellence in everything he puts his mind to,” Paiavula said. “I’m proud of his involvement with a society like ASHE, and he’s doing a great job for DRMP. His award is well deserved.”
