March 15th, 2023

ORLANDO, Fla. – DRMP has promoted Rachel Schmidt, PWS, to Environmental Department Manager as the firm continues to support career development for its employees and expand its services across the Southeast.

In this new role, Schmidt will be responsible for project management, staff development, regulatory agency and client coordination, quality control, technical review, and state, federal, and local permitting.

“I am delighted to accept my new role as the Environmental Department Manager and look forward to continue working with a strong team here at DRMP,” Schmidt said. “The firm has proven its commitment to employees by encouraging and motivating my personal career growth.”

Schmidt began her career at DRMP in 2018 as an Environmental Scientist and in 2021 was promoted to Senior Environmental Scientist. She earned her Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification last year.

A noteworthy project she worked on involved the SR 50 Widening, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Districts Five and Seven project in Hernando and Sumter counties. She was responsible for environmental resource permitting, report preparation, coordination with state, federal, and local agencies, GIS analysis, and threatened and endangered species surveys to support the widening of 8 miles of SR 50 from two to four lanes.

Schmidt’s supervisor, DRMP Vice President George McLatchey, PWS, CEP, said Schmidt is a proven leader with a tremendous drive for success.

“Rachel’s ability to plan a strategy and make sure it’s implemented accurately and quickly has contributed immensely to the Department’s success,” McLatchey said.  “She is very organized and hard-working and that makes her an excellent candidate for promotion.”
