Escambia County Bridge Inspections

As mandated by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Escambia County, Florida is required to inspect County-owned structures once every 24 months. In addition, FDOT mandates these inspections be accompanied by a load rating analysis, if the condition sufficiency rating has changed  considerably from the most recent rating.

In 2012, DRMP performed an inspection of four single, short-span bridge structures and in 2014, DRMP performed an inspection of three single, short-span bridge structures for Escambia County. Each of these single, short-span off-system bridge structures required standard NBIS bridge field inspection and record update services. DRMP scheduled and provided in-service bridge inspection crews to visit each site. Crews performed a thorough structural inspection of substructure, superstructure, deck, barrier walls, joints, existing cracking, shoreline conditions and roadway approaches. The inspection services included completion of a Bridge Profile Report within 30 days after issuance of the notice to proceed.

Deliverables included completion of the standard inspection report, identification of potential maintenance or safety issues, a sufficiency rating, appropriate recommendations and two original signed and sealed copies of the report. Additional services within the project scope included providing a load rating analysis, if needed.
