DRMP Roadway Project Wins ACEC Florida Outstanding Project Award

June 1st, 2023

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – DRMP’s State Road 390 from Baldwin Road to Jenks Avenue project was recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Florida Chapter as an outstanding project.

The goal of the Florida Department of Transportation District 3 project was to widen the roadway from a two-lane undivided roadway to an urban six-lane divided arterial. This widening will support current and future growth in the area. DRMP’s transportation team maintained the road’s existing geometry while also providing room for extensive underground utility relocation.

After the project area was severely affected by Category 5 Hurricane Michael, causing damage to various infrastructure and trees, the project’s CEI staff and contractor crews assisted the community with debris clean-up.

The project was a great way to make a difference in the community—through our expertise as designers and people who live in the area, said DRMP Roadway Engineer Julian Poole, PE.

“The expertise we provided to support District 3 for this roadway widening project will continue to have an impact.” said Poole. “As the area continues to grow, it was important to the client that the road be expanded in a major way. Also, the support we provided to our community when Hurricane Michael devastated the area was certainly rewarding and made the finished product that much more positive.”
