WT Harris Boulevard and Brookshire Boulevard Roadway Classification Study

The purpose of the Roadway Classification Study was to provide the City of Charlotte with a planning vision and framework for Brookshire Boulevard and W.T. Harris Boulevard that will be used to guide future growth decisions.  This vision addresses both land use and transportation elements that will facilitate the development of each corridor into a desirable outcome. 

In order to develop a planning vision and framework that will be used to guide future growth decisions for both the Brookshire Boulevard and W.T. Harris Boulevard study corridors, DRMP applied a methodology that included data collection, assessment of existing and future conditions, trends, establishment of goals and objectives, establishment of a planning vision, identification of opportunities, constraints, benefits and consequences and community engagement.

Over time, the results of the Roadway Classification Study will affect access, development and mobility for residents, existing and future businesses and users of the corridors.  To achieve the future vision as identified in this study, an implementation plan was developed that consisted of a Comprehensive Transportation Plan update, development policy revisions and capital improvement prioritization.

By identifying opportunities that support the recommended vision, the Study identified goals for developing and achieving positive and sustainable changes in terms of access, development and better mobility for residents, existing and future businesses and users of the two roadways.
