Wekiva Parkway Section 8 Interchange

The Wekiva Parkway is a 25-mile limited access toll facility designed to complete the missing link in the beltway around Orlando. Wekiva Parkway, Section 8, is the final piece of this beltway which ultimately connects I-4, SR 417, and SR 429 with a new system-to-system interchange.

DRMP served as the lead designer for this 2.63-mile project starting from Orange Boulevard to east of Rinehart Road. In addition, this $261.2 million design-build project includes two miles of reconstruction along I-4 that accommodates future express lanes for I-4 Beyond the Ultimate, 20 new bridges and two bridge widenings. Bridge types include a combination of single and multi-span bridges, concrete Florida-I Beams (FIBs) and steel plate girders.

Our innovative interchange design connected these three major roadways, eliminating the missing link and relieving traffic congestion as well as provided improvements to operations and safety for the traveling public and reduced overall impacts and long-term maintenance costs for our client.
