5th Street Bridge Utility Replacement

The New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission required the replacement of four utilities which were to be affected by an adjacent bridge replacement project.

DRMP provided services to replace water main, sewer main, electric, and communication cable utilities. DRMP designed the utility infrastructure using directional drills to avoid relocating the utility infrastructure twice, for the temporary bridge and again to the permanent structure, and to keep the utilities in service. DRMP engineers assured the directional drills avoided the structure piles, as well as that they were located outside the footprint of the bridges. Permitting for this project included a Sovereign Submerged Land Lease.

With the expertise provided by DRMP’s engineers, the client was able to update the utilities impacted by the installation of a new bridge and mitigate any utility issues during construction.
