Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2024

March 4th, 2024

In celebration of Women in Construction Week, DRMP thanks the women in our Construction Services who are unlocking doors, breaking barriers, and serving as inspirational role models in our industry. Their forward-thinking perspectives reflect the progress and inclusivity we strive for. We asked some of our Construction Services leaders how they see women's roles in the industry evolving in the future.

Megan Whitmore, PE
Construction Services Area Leader/Senior Project Engineer
“Every day, I see women playing a major role in the success of construction projects whether in the field or on the management side. In the future, I expect to see the role of women in construction evolving from being an exception to becoming an expectation, resulting in a more inclusive and dynamic future for construction."

JAMI GUYNN
North Carolina Construction Services Area Leader

“In my more than 35-year career, as the first female resident engineer in my Division and later becoming Division Bridge Program Manager, I've seen women's roles evolve in Construction Services. Despite initial hurdles in a male-dominated field, our unique perspective and meticulous attention to detail are invaluable in shaping the industry's future.”

“Ten years ago, women were scarce in Construction Services. Now, it's more common to see female colleagues, and most of my bosses now have been women. Witnessing this shift to greater gender diversity has been encouraging to see. I believe this trend will continue and lead to a future where it will be a level playing field for both genders."
