DRMPCares: Employees Unite to Support Causes They Care About

March 27th, 2024

Employees in DRMP’s Florida offices in Orlando and Boca Raton sprang into action to help those in need.

More than a dozen Orlando-based employees from DRMP’s Transportation Market Sector conducted a clothing and household goods donation drive to benefit Straight Street, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit that assists the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of poor and homeless people. Volunteers also helped distribute hot meals to the needy.

DRMP Executive Administrative Assistant D Olavarria, who organized the donation drive, stressed the importance of such initiatives in understanding the areas of the community that are in need.

“I think sometimes people lose track of how blessed we really are,” she said. “Team building doesn't always have to be about us, but instead about what we can do as a group for others.”

DRMP Project Administrator Tony Diaz, who participated in the donation drive and volunteered to distribute meals, said it is important to him to make a difference in the lives of others.

“I enjoy volunteering,” Diaz said. “It always feels good to help others and raise awareness. Sometimes the smallest amount of support can have a very large impact to those in need.”

Employees volunteered during their work hours as part of the firm’s DRMPCares program, which aims to provide resources for community initiatives that make a difference for STEM education, health, and the well-being of children and families.

DRMP’s Boca Raton office began volunteering quarterly at Boca Helping Hands after assisting the organization during the Christmas holiday season.  Boca Helping Hands is a nonprofit that provides food, job training, financial assistance, and access to healthcare for individuals and families in need.

For two hours, employees sort food items into bags for distribution to the program’s recipients, while also ensuring only the highest quality items make it into the hands of those in need.

“After witnessing the impact of Boca Helping Hands firsthand, we realized that our efforts, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of those facing hardships,” said DRMP Boca Raton Office Manager Eric Gerber-Weiss.

DRMP Business Development Specialist Kelly Stout emphasized her passion for collaborating with organizations that prioritize helping people.

“I love to work with an organization that helps the community at-large,” Stout said. “When we come together to support a good cause, we not only make a difference in the lives of others but also strengthen our bonds as a team.”
