Brevard County Senior Center Trail and Regional Stormwater Facility

Brevard County, Florida wanted to provide a recreation area for its Senior Center, tasking DRMP’s multidiscipline team to improve the stormwater facility and design the various elements associated with the recreational path.

DRMP was responsible for the design of two wet detention ponds totaling 3.5-acres on a 12-acre wooded site. The ponds are surrounded by paved walking trails and elevated boardwalks over wetlands with two gazebos over the lake.

This was a joint cooperative stormwater retrofit project which created a regional stormwater facility to significantly reduce pollution to the Indian River Lagoon, as well as reduce flooding in key areas of the City of Titusville. The senior citizens of Brevard County now have an area to enjoy the outdoors that is also ADA-compliant with wheelchair accessibility.
