I-10/US 29 Interchange and I-10 Mainline Widening PD&E Study Reevaluation
The FDOT District Three needed a firm to provide professional engineering services for a PD&E Study Reevaluation for the I-10/US 29 Interchange and I-10 Mainline Widening.
DRMP provided professional engineering services for this PD&E Study Reevaluation which involved proposing improvements to the existing SR 8 (I-10)/SR 95 (US 29) interchange as well as the proposed widening of SR 8 (I-10) from the SR 95 (US 29) interchange to a point just west of the recently improved I-10/I-110 interchange in Escambia County, Florida. Project tasks included an extensive public involvement plan, interchange alternatives analysis, location hydraulics, bridge concept report, air and noise studies, cultural resource assessments, endangered species assessment and a wetlands evaluation report.
The reevaluation resulted in Location Design and Concept Acceptance (LDCA) for an interim improvement in the northeast quadrant of the interchange as well as a complete redesign that provides additional through lanes and dramatically improves the safety and efficiency of the interchange. The limits of this reevaluation were included in the original PD&E study for Interstate 10 (SR 8) from west of Pensacola Boulevard (SR 95, US 29) to east of Scenic Highway (SR 10A, US 90) and Interstate I-110 from Maxwell Street to Interstate 10 (SR 8) which resulted in a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
The study reevaluation provided the FDOT District Three with LDCA for interim and ultimate concepts to advance design, right-of-way and construction.
