Jones Avenue Stormwater Improvements

The objective of this project was to reduce pollutant nutrients loading from adjacent farming lands and developments to Lake Apopka.

DRMP provided services for improvements to stormwater runoff collected along the roadway (Jones Avenue) including a large offsite area, consisting mainly of farming lands, and directed to a proposed wet detention stormwater treatment facility located south of the roadway. This stormwater facility provides for treatment prior to discharging to adjacent wetlands then flowing to Lake Apopka. The major goal of the project was to reduce nutrients in discharges to Lake Apopka. The client was Orange County with participation from the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) making this project a joint use facility between these two governmental agencies.

The design reduced nutrient loadings to Lake Apopka and helped Orange County meet NPDES requirements.
