ORLANDO, Fla. — DRMP Vice President and Southeast Florida Regional Survey Manager Frank Lopez, PSM, has been selected for the Florida Engineering Leadership Institute’s (FELI) Class of 2027, bringing more than 20 years of surveying and mapping experience to the program as this year’s only surveyor.
Lopez’s selection continues DRMP’s long-standing involvement in FELI, with numerous team members accepted into the program over the years. Administered by the Florida Engineering Society (FES) and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC Florida), the competitively selected, 10-month professional development program cultivates leadership skills in mid-career engineers across the state.
For Lopez, FELI offers an opportunity to build on his leadership experience while connecting with peers from across Florida.
“I look forward to participating in the class discussions, team-building activities and community-service projects,” Lopez said. “Most importantly, I look forward to building lasting relationships with my classmates, learning from their experiences and sharing my surveying background in ways that can benefit the class and the communities we serve.”
Lopez joined DRMP in 2018 as the firm’s Central Florida surveying and mapping/geomatics manager. Since then, he has helped expand the firm’s surveying and mapping client base and team while supporting the division’s growth. DRMP named him a vice president in 2023.

Frank has continued to grow as a leader within DRMP, and this is a great opportunity for him to build on that growth while learning alongside other emerging leaders in our industry,” Thick said. “Being the only surveyor in this year’s class makes the recognition even more meaningful, and I know Frank will represent both DRMP and the surveying profession extremely well.”
Beyond leadership development and networking, each FELI class undertakes a community service project benefiting the engineering profession or local communities. The Class of 2026 supported new playground equipment for older students at a Clearwater school serving students with autism and helped equip and enhance a STEM lab at a Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida in Kissimmee.
Lopez and his classmates will have an opportunity to build on that tradition of service, applying what they learn through the program to a community project of their own.
