Three DRMP Staff Win Scholarships from APWA Florida Chapter
April 28th, 2023
TAMPA, Fla. – Two interns from DRMP’s Tampa, Fla. office and one employee from DRMP’s Gainesville, Fla. office have been awarded $1,000 scholarships from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Florida Chapter.
Engineering Intern Breona Prophet, Roadway Design Intern Jacob Gonzalez, and Administrative Assistant Olivia Bracewell were honored with the scholarships earlier this month during the chapter’s annual awards ceremony.
Prophet has been with the firm since January of this year and is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF). In that time, she has worked on projects that are supporting the infrastructure needs of the Tampa, Fla. area.
“I’m excited to have received this recognition from APWA,” said Prophet. “I appreciate getting involved with professional organizations related to the career I’m working to build.”
Gonzalez has been with DRMP for over a year and is on track to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from USF. During his time with the firm, he has worked on a variety of projects from roadway improvements to bridge replacements for many Florida clients.
“It’s an honor to be awarded with this scholarship,” said Gonzalez. “My time as an intern has been very educational and I hope to continue my involvement with professional organizations like APWA as I grow in my career.”
Bracewell joined the firm in 2022 and is studying to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
“This scholarship means a lot to me as a civil engineering student,” said Bracewell. “I have seen the impact that organizations like APWA can have on the community. It’s exciting to not only be on the receiving end of that impact but also to learn more about what my involvement with them will look like as my career continues.”
