Brandon Gorsuch, CMIT, Completes Construction Manager-in-Training Program

July 7th, 2021

Asheboro, NC – DRMP is pleased to announce that Brandon Gorsuch, CMIT, has completed the Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) Program, which focuses on the fundamentals of construction management practices and offers a professional development pathway to become a Construction Manager. Gorsuch, a Transportation Technician in the Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division in Asheboro, NC, joined DRMP in 2018.

Before sitting for the CMIT exam, the applicant must obtain a letter of support from their supervisor. After Gorsuch was approved to move forward, it was time to come up with  a strategy for the 200-question test that would take six hours to complete. He received a link to a book titled “Capstone Course: An Introduction to the CM Profession”. Applicants have a year from their application date to complete the test.

“At first I tried to sit down and read the book a little at a time, but it’s hundreds of pages. Then I found an online program that had flashcards to help me with the test.” Gorsuch said.

Gorsuch said he was inspired by his mentors and DRMP to advance in his field.

“I took the test as a challenge to grow my career and continue my education. I know getting my CMIT increased my value for the company and for myself,” he said. “The work environment promotes self-improvement, especially when you see the people around you working to be better.”

Gorsuch has plans to continue his education through obtaining his Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification and possibly going back to school.

“Gorsuch has proven to be an outstanding employee and a go-getter,” said his supervisor Brian Smith, DRMP Field Services Manager. “He has taken advantage of every opportunity available to him. I look forward to watching him pursue the next steps in his career. He is an outstanding asset to both DRMP and the clients he serves.”
