Orlando, Fla.  –  DRMP’s SR 528/SR 436 Interchange Reconfiguration Project has received a 2023 American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL) Honor Award in the Transportation category.

The project was recognized for its innovation; its future value to the engineering profession; its social, economic, and sustainable design; its complexity and for exceeding the client's and owner's needs. DRMP provided the following services to assure the success of the project: Structural Engineering; Subsurface Utility Engineering; Surveying & Mapping/Geospatial; Transportation Engineering; Utilities Engineering; and Water Resources/Stormwater Management.

About the SR 528/SR 436 Interchange Reconfiguration Project

The SR 528/SR 436 interchange serves as the northern entrance of the Orlando International Airport, which welcomed over 50 million visitors in 2019 and has become the busiest airport in Florida. This, coupled with the record population growth in Central Florida, created the need to provide additional capacity along SR 528 and at this interchange. The newly reconstructed interchange provides an additional lane of capacity at each of the critical movements within the interchange as well as additional lanes of capacity along SR 528 to better serve the growing airport and overall region. The interchange also provides semi-directional flyovers for all movements to help assist tourists and local commuters as they travel through this busy interchange.
