DRMP Staff Wins Big and Takes on Leadership Roles at APWA Florida West Coast Branch Awards

March 17th, 2023

TAMPA, Fla. – DRMP congratulates GIS Analyst Meaghan McCarthy for being appointed as the American Public Works Association (APWA) Florida Chapter West Coast Branch’s Young Professionals/Student Chair.  The firm also congratulates Tampa Office Manager Arnesa Zunic for receiving the chapter’s Community Involvement Award and her appointment as Secretary. The two DRMP Tampa office employees were recently honored during the chapter’s annual awards banquet.

McCarthy Seized the Chance to Serve
McCarthy said she jumped at the opportunity to serve as the Young Professionals/Student Chair and get more involved with the APWA Florida Chapter West Coast Branch.
Among her responsibilities, she will reach out to higher education communities and share the value of pursuing a career in public works, as well as being involved in the organization.
McCarthy, a recent Geography graduate from the University of South Florida, said her top priority is bringing in more students and young professionals to connect with each other and potential mentors.
“A big goal of mine is to not only get young people in their 20s involved, but it is also to help them connect to the right people in their respective fields,” she said. “There are so many great people in APWA who have tons of experience across various disciplines.”

Zunic Lauded for Commitment to APWA Florida Chapter West Coast Branch
Before joining the local APWA chapter in Tampa, Zunic had a wealth of APWA experience during her 15 years as its state conference organizer. She was recognized for her leadership and dedication to the public works community and for using her experience and insight to provide valuable input and connections to advance the chapter’s mission. Zunic, who joined DRMP in June, said she is humbled by the recognition and is driven by encouraging her team to take advantage of every opportunity APWA offers.

“The best leader pushes their team to stand out, not pushing themselves to stand out,” she said. “You can be a leader by pushing your team forward and helping them shine.”
