Wellfields Wetlands Monitoring Program

The City of Titusville, Florida required annual wetland monitoring services as part of their St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) Consumptive Use Permit for the City’s wellfield that has a yearly average withdrawal of 87.3 million gallons per month (MGM) of raw water. Preparation of an annual wetland monitoring report is a condition of the SJRWMD permit.

DRMP provided the services, which consisted of developing a hydrologic and vegetative monitoring program to assess potential impacts of groundwater drawdown on wetlands within the wellfields, per the permit requirements. The vegetative monitoring plan employed cost-effective, semi-quantitative measurement techniques.  These methods, along with an extensive groundwater monitoring network, were used to provide the City with relevant data on wetland changes while minimizing field labor requirements.  DRMP also developed mitigation alternatives to offset impacts from groundwater withdrawal.

Upon completion of the environmental services, all permit compliances were maintained to renew the Consumptive Use Permits in the needed locations.
