Veteran’s Memorial Fishing Pier

Brevard County, Florida needed a firm to provide environmental services including seagrass studies and coastal ecological services for the Veteran’s Memorial Fishing Pier project.

DRMP acquired high resolution remote sensing/aerial photography data and developed high resolution maps with standardized methodology. DRMP’s certified scuba divers quantified seagrass acreage and species composition and other relevant landscape features.  For site assessments, DRMP determined seagrass ecological health and identified potential impact to seagrasses such as light, nutrients and total suspended solids.  A permitting package for design and construction of the fishing pier was also prepared.  DRMP staff prepared reports, environmental documentation and coordinated with state and federal agencies, including St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

DRMP’s collected data and documentation will provide Brevard County with extensive information for the project area. The environmental team ensured seagrass would not be negatively impacted by the fishing pier.
