University of South Florida (USF) Lot 37T Parking Improvements

The University of South Florida requested design and Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) permitting for the conversion of a dirt parking lot to a paved parking lot with improved circulation and drainage.

DRMP provided surveying, engineering and permitting services for asphalt, striping and drainage improvements to a 2-acre dirt parking lot in the central campus area.  DRMP used excess millings to design and permit a temporary parking lot.  The parking lot design included improved circulation and ADA improvements.   A new curb was introduced to collect runoff and two existing manholes were converted to inlets.  The conversion of the existing manholes to inlets reduced construction cost and sped up construction by not requiring stormwater piping.

DRMP successfully delivered the survey, SWFWMD permit and construction documents exactly one month from the notice to proceed. This short time period for delivery allowed the project to be constructed prior to the beginning of the fall semester, minimizing the impact to students.  The improved parking lot provides more parking spaces with no ponding at minimal cost.
