March 13th, 2019

Tampa, Fla. – DRMP won the American Public Work Association (APWA) Florida Chapter – West Coast Branch’s 2019 Consultant of the Year Award. This makes the third time the firm has won the Branch’s Consultant of the Year award with previous wins in 2016 and 2017. DRMP also won the West Coast Branch’s Structures Project of the Year for its work on the University of South Florida’s Campus Edge Enhancement Project in Tampa, Fla. The firm also received the Branch’s Transportation Project of the Year on the Haines Bayshore Road Sidewalk Improvements Project in Pinellas County, Fla.

Consultant of the Year Award
The Branch’s Consultant of the Year Award is given to companies for their excellence in providing public works services to APWA members. DRMP Tampa Office Leader Scott Garth, PE, LEED AP ND leads the office that opened in 2001 and provides civil engineering and surveying and mapping services.

University of South Florida Campus Edge Enhancement
Concerned with open access to its campus, the University of South Florida (USF) tasked DRMP with the design of a campus edge in Tampa, Fla. to better define campus limits and enhance security. DRMP engineers provided a unique design for steel fencing and masonry columns along the entire campus perimeter that collectively enhanced safety and provided additional branding for the university. DRMP’s design – stretching 4-miles – featured over 500 custom-made, USF mascot “Bull U” logos that were placed at regular intervals.

Haines Bayshore Road Sidewalk Improvements
DRMP was selected by Pinellas County, Fla. to design 3,500-LF of new sidewalk along Haines Bayshore Road, a high-traffic pedestrian area that encompasses Clearwater Central Catholic High School, the Duke Energy Trail and residential communities. Through DRMP’s design, the new sidewalk provides students a safe way to and from the local high school. The nearby neighborhoods also benefit from the improvements by being able to use the sidewalk as a multi-use recreational path with connectivity to the Duke Energy Trail. Throughout the project corridor, the roadway no longer is shared by motorists and pedestrians.
