DRMP Gives Back with 2019 Community Involvement Week
September 27th, 2019
From Sept. 9-13, DRMP staff participated in a companywide DRMPCares Community Involvement Project. After spending time volunteering at several local Ronald McDonald Houses last year, DRMP knew that we would support this cause again in 2019—but we would make a bigger impact, preparing double the meals than we did last year.
Every Ronald McDonald House works to provide a home environment for families during their child’s hospital stay. Many DRMP offices are not far from a Ronald McDonald House, allowing our staff the opportunity to either prepare a meal for their local House or deliver prepackaged snack packs for house families.
“It was a pleasure to meet and serve the families at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Tampa Office Leader and Vice President Scott Garth, PE, LEED AP. “The privilege of helping others makes you truly appreciate their organization and the compassion it shows to families in need.”
Each day, teams of up to 10 Orlando staff volunteered their time to prepare both lunch and dinner for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Advent Health for Children. Last year the Orlando office cooked four dinners. This year, teams served five lunches and five dinners ranging from barbecue chicken sandwiches and Italian spaghetti to pizza and chicken fajitas.
“It was a very humbling experience to help serve lunch at Ronald McDonald House,” said Division Administrative Support Leader Kristin Allard. “The staff is so pleasant and took the time to talk with us all and explain how the house functions.”
Our Pensacola and Jacksonville, Fla. offices also prepared meals for their local Ronald McDonald Houses. Many of our offices in Florida and North Carolina donated and delivered snack packs and non-perishable foods to a house in their area.
“The Ronald McDonald House supports families that are going though one of the most difficult challenges in life: caring for an ill child,” said Project Manager Ryan Mitchell, PE. “It is our hope that the snack packs not only provide a small convenience to the families in their time of need, but also show that we care about them and what they are going through.”
At our office locations without a nearby Ronald McDonald House, employees found other ways to give back to their community. Our Boca Raton, Fla. office served at The Soup Kitchen in Boynton Beach, Fla. and staff members in Lakeland, Fla. worked together to collect trash at Lake Wire. DRMP is proud to volunteer and make a difference by supporting our communities throughout our 17 office locations.
