Each year, the National Safety Council designates June as National Safety Month. At DRMP, we are committed to protecting our employees and providing a safe and healthy working environment. Our more than 300 Surveying and Mapping/Geospatial and Construction Services staff keeps safety top of mind. Safety takes a front seat no matter what type of work our field staff are performing each day. Whether a Construction Services Inspector is performing concrete testing or one of our Survey Field Technicians is gathering data, all DRMP field employees are properly trained on how to follow onsite safety protocols.

Safety also extends beyond the jobsite. Our staff are required to complete safety checklists for company vehicles they use to travel to and from each site. Each vehicle must pass an inspection checklist at the time of every oil change to be considered up to standard for staff use. These checklists are completed by our employees so they are familiar with their vehicles and are attuned to any safety issues that may arise. It’s important to DRMP we provide our traveling staff with reliable, safe vehicles. In addition, all field staff are provided with the appropriate safety gear, such as vests and hard hats, which allow them to perform their jobs securely.

Safety Protocols

Safety is not only put into practice every day, it’s woven into the structure of our firm. Several years ago, DRMP established a Safety Committee that meets quarterly to ensure all safety requirements are effective and followed properly. The committee is made up of representatives from the firm’s different market sectors to make sure each department’s perspective is taken into consideration and optimal safety procedures are established. The Safety Committee also manages the contents and implementation of DRMP’s Safety Manual. Our Construction Services and Surveying and Mapping/Geospatial staff use the safety manual to complete their onboarding during our hiring process, as well as use it as a reference document when they have questions about certain safety issues.  

In addition to DRMP’s Safety Committee, our Surveying and Mapping/Geospatial and Construction Services departments have regular weekly and monthly meetings. Our crews also have meetings at the onset of their field work as a way to kick-off the project and establish all relevant safety procedures they’ll be following throughout the project’s life cycle. Our field teams hold trainings for topics they’ve deemed necessary to review as a way to refresh their knowledge.

See Something, Say Something

To support our staff beyond the immediate, everyday methods of meetings and safety checks, DRMP maintains a safety community on our company intranet. The community is updated with all relevant safety news and any new initiatives our staff needs to know about. It also provides our field staff with access to all safety documents. Our safety community is home to the checklists and guides for both vehicle inspection and safety meetings, as well as the up-to-date safety manual. At DRMP, we also want all staff to feel comfortable reporting any safety issues in a completely anonymous manner. Our “See Something, Say Something” reporting system can also be found on our intranet’s safety community.

At DRMP, we are committed to building upon a culture in which the safety of all our people comes first. All field staff members are provided ample resources to stay safe on the jobsite, as well as on their way to and from it. DRMP will continue to emphasize the importance of safety and uphold it as one of the values we’ve put into practice since 1977.
