East Central Regional Rails-to-Trails Phase 2 Bridge over SR 406

East Central Regional Rails-to-Trails Phase 2 Bridge over SR 406 was a $3 million design-build project located in Titusville, Florida. The City of Titusville needed a firm to provide LAP-funded Construction Engineering Inspection services (CEI) for this project.

This Locally Administered FDOT Rails-to-Trails project included a 160-foot main span Steel Pratt Truss over SR 406 (Garden Street), with two spans of 60-foot prestressed double tee beams on both sides of the main span. DRMP provided inspection of all bridge construction including off-site fabrication inspection of the steel truss and prestressed double tee beams. In addition, DRMP performed on-site inspection of the mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls construction. DRMP also provided design and plans review services to ensure that the structural plans for the Garden Street Overpass were compliant with the RFP requirements and applicable standards. An FDOT-qualified construction project inspector and other administration staff was provided on an as-needed basis that were familiar with the necessary CEI inspection and documentation procedures. CEI personnel provided field inspection and coordination services necessary to administer the construction contract to determine that the project is constructed in reasonable conformity with the plans, specifications and contract provisions.

With the help of DRMP’s CEI services, the bridge will be a safe way for pedestrians to cross SR 406 while providing a multi-use trail to promote activity in community.
