Central Florida SunNav Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)

The Central Florida SunNav Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is a $14.2 million project located in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise needed a firm to provide Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services to oversee the implementation of an ITS.

DRMP was selected to provide the CEI services for an expansion of the existing SunNav ITS to include the Seminole Expressway (SR 417), Southern Connector (SR 417) and Western Beltway (SR 429 between Seidel Road and Interstate-4). The components deployed as part of this project  include fiber optic cable, conduit, closed circuit television (CCTV), microwave vehicle detection system (MVDS), dynamic message signs (DMS) and highway advisory radio (HAR). All systems are to be integrated into the SunNav software located at both traffic management centers (TMCs) (Turkey Lake and Pompano) and are to have redundant paths utilizing other agency fibers back to the Turkey Lake TMC.

DRMP used quality and cost control measures to achieve maximum cost effectiveness. Our team provided the available quality and quantity of staff to meet and exceed the owners project expectations, documentation requirements, coordination, contract administration, inspection and engineering management needs.
