Hornet's Nest Park Area Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

The City of Charlotte, North Carolina needed a firm to provide professional engineering services to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians in the Hornet’s Nest Park area. The high foot-traffic area didn’t have the resources needed to keep the community safe.

DRMP is responsible for planning and design for the proposed project, funded through the City’s Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Program. The project will improve bicycle and pedestrian access along Beatties Ford Road, improve the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Trinity Road, provide sidewalk along Sunset Road and provide park access to adjacent neighborhoods.  Work includes planning, public engagement, preliminary and final sidewalk and roadway plans, construction contract documents, bidding support and construction support.

The project allows residents and students in nearby schools to safely walk or bicycle to retail at the Sunset and Beatties Ford intersection and to Hornet’s Nest Park, an important community asset with a wide array of amenities.
