Letchworth - Love Mounds Archaeological State Park

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways and Trails (FDEP) contracted DRMP for the civil-site development work at Letchworth – Love Mounds Archaeological State Park.  The park, located 15-miles east of Tallahassee, boasts Florida’s tallest Native American ceremonial mound at 46-feet-high.

The work involved topographic survey of the site, engineering design for the entrance road, parking lot, sidewalks and stormwater management facilities. The scope also included siting the well head and a new picnic pavilion and design of a septic tank and drainfield for a new restroom facility.  A stormwater permit was secured from the FDEP.  Site plan approval was obtained from Jefferson County, Florida.

DRMP’s solutions allowed for the state park to have increased accessibility and better amenities for the community. As a result, the park has become a popular destination for picnicking, bird-watching and interpretive hiking.  The park is in the process of being nominated for designation on the National Register of Historical Landmarks.
