Clay County Advanced Traffic Management System

FDOT District Two sought to add an extensive Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) to improve remote roadway monitoring, communications and signal coordination along CR 224 and CR 220 within Clay County, Florida.

DRMP provided professional engineering services for a new advanced traffic management system (ATMS) consisting of approximately 4.1-miles of ITS communications, signal cabinet upgrades and closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.  DRMP provided design and plans production for the ITS along CR 224 and CR 220 from SR 21 to the Clay County Traffic Management Center (TMC).  ITS design and plans included new gigabit Ethernet communications with supporting field installations of CCTV camera sites located at each signalized intersection along the corridor. Work included designing wiring & fiber splicing diagrams, equipment details and specifications development as part of this project.

The roadway’s ITS system has up-to-date CCTV cameras and signal cabinet communications for reliable traffic monitoring and timing coordination. This increases signal maintenance efficiency and roadway incident management providing better reliability for drivers along the corridor.
