Nevin Road Extension

The goal of this project is to connect two noncontiguous segments of Nevin Road in the Derita Statesville Road Community of Charlotte including improvements to pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorist safety.

DRMP provided professional planning and engineering services for the extension of Nevin Road, an existing two-lane roadway, to include bicycle lanes, sidewalks, landscaping, and drainage improvements.  This project connected two existing noncontiguous sections of Nevin Road. The project was about 1,500-feet long and extended from the existing intersection of Nevin Road and Sugar Creek Road through the previously acquired 70-foot right-of-way to the intersection of Mallard Creek Road and Nevin Road. This project also included the realignment of the existing Forest Pond subdivision entrance  to coincide with the final Nevin Road and Mallard Creek Road intersection.

Upon completion, connectivity improvements from the Nevin Road Extension provided the community with enhanced accessibility and provided traffic congestion relief along West Sugar Creek Road. Sidewalks, bike lanes and lighting upgrades provides improved safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
