Randy Tompkins, PSM, PLS, PS, Installed as SAME Jacksonville Post President
June 20th, 2024
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Congratulations to Federal Survey Manager Randy Tompkins, PSM, PLS, PS, on his installation as President of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Jacksonville Post.
Tompkins officially assumed the role during a recent meeting where the organization introduced its 2024-2025 officers and directors.
Additionally, the organization recognized DRMP with the Medium Business of the Year award for its ongoing support of the SAME Jacksonville Post.
Tompkins has dedicated seven years to SAME in various capacities, including as Vice President and Director of Rewards and Recognition. As President, he will oversee the Post's operations, preside over meetings, appoint Committee Chairs, and provide annual reports on the Post's financial status, membership, activities, and progress toward strategic goals.
The SAME Jacksonville Post convenes every third Tuesday of the month and hosts at least one annual conference, Industry Day. As the 2023 Industry Day Chair, Tompkins oversaw an event that drew over 550 attendees, a 166 percent increase from the previous year. The organization also hosts a family event each spring at a Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp baseball game and organizes several evening networking events.
“I am incredibly grateful and excited to serve as SAME Jacksonville President,” Tompkins said. “My goals are to foster more Industry and Government Engagement (IGE) and build our Industry Day into a larger event.”
Tompkins said being a part of SAME offers benefits that help members grow both professionally and personally.
“SAME Jacksonville has benefited me professionally by networking with like-minded individuals and by growing my appreciation of our government counterparts,” he said. “SAME is one of those organizations where you get back more than what you put into it.”
The national SAME organization boasts over 28,000 members, with the Jacksonville Post comprising 671 individual members and 107 company members. Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting National Defense, not just active-duty military members, surveyors, engineers, and architects.
“People from all walks of life and backgrounds are welcome to join,” Tompkins said.
