DRMP Expands PDES Team with Strategic Hires to Strengthen Transportation Planning Expertise

July 30th, 2025

ORLANDO, Fla. – DRMP has hired Stephanie Garcia as senior planner and project manager for transportation, further bolstering the firm's Project Development and Environmental Services (PDES) team.

Garcia joins her former Alta Planning + Design Inc. colleague Alia Awwad, PE, who recently came on board as planning group lead for transportation. Alta is DRMP’s partner firm under the Trilon family of companies.

Together, Garcia and Awwad bring extensive expertise in multimodal transportation, safety, and community-driven planning to support the continued growth of DRMP’s transportation planning practice across Florida.

“I am excited for the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of DRMP’s planning practice, particularly at a time when Florida’s cities are rapidly evolving and demanding more innovative and sustainable mobility solutions,” Garcia said. “In my first year, I hope to continue building strong relationships with government agencies, partners, and stakeholders, lead planning projects that highlight our expanded capabilities, and establish best practices for community engagement and multimodal design.”

With 12 years of experience as a civil engineer and urban planner, Garcia will lead key initiatives at DRMP that focus on expanding the firm’s multimodal planning capabilities and strengthening the firm’s presence in urban mobility and infrastructure planning. Her responsibilities will include managing complex transportation planning projects, fostering collaboration, mentoring and training junior staff, and ensuring DRMP’s work aligns with community needs and sustainability goals.

During her time at Alta, Garcia served as a senior planner and project manager, leading high-impact efforts such as MOVE TAMARAC Multimodal Transportation Connectivity Master Plan, the West Palm Beach Downtown Mobility Plan Update, and assisted in the Osceola County, Kissimmee, and St. Cloud Safety Action Plans.

She was also responsible for integrating community engagement, data-driven planning, policy and program recommendations, project prioritization and Vision Zero principles to create safer, more accessible, and people-centered transportation networks.

“Stephanie’s expertise in both the technical and human aspects of planning is exactly what we need as we scale our capabilities in urban mobility,” PD&E Division Leader Joce Pritchett, PE, said. “Her leadership, collaborative mindset, and commitment to safety and equity make her a tremendous asset to our team and the communities we serve.”
