NCDOT Central Construction Unit Support

The NCDOT Central Construction Unit needed a firm to assist with the conversion of its Construction Manual from paper to an online format.

DRMP staff reached out to various states that had completed similar online format conversion projects to discuss best practices and lessons learned. We interviewed NCDOT Construction Unit staff, NCDOT Division staff and DRMP subject matter experts to gain a better understanding of the different areas of the Construction Unit, such as project closeout, contract administration, construction-related manuals, pavement construction, HiCAMS and how they collaborate with the Divisions and other NCDOT Units such as the Materials and Tests Unit.  This information was applied when developing the layout and functionality of the new online manual to ensure that the design met stakeholder needs.

The new online Construction Manual is user-friendly, searchable, has instructional videos/pictures and is integrated through links with other NCDOT departments and their respective guidance documents.
