NCDOT Materials and Tests Unit Support

The North Carolina Department of Transportation Materials and Tests (M&T) Unit sought a firm to redesign the M&T business partner site on SharePoint to be more materials focused and to convert various hardcopy training manuals into a web format that are user friendly, searchable, materials focused and integrated through links with other NCDOT departments and their respective guidance documents.

DRMP interviewed Materials and Tests Unit staff, researched other state’s websites and completed surveys on internal and external contacts to gain an in depth understanding of the various core functions of the Materials and Tests Unit.  These included the Minimum Sampling Guide, Standard Operating Procedures for inspection of producer’s facilities, laboratory testing and reporting procedures, inspection of manufactured products, data analysis and reporting on the QMS program, development of technician training materials, project closeout, certification procedures and systematic auditing of producer’s facilities. This information was applied when developing the layout and functionality of the new site ensuring that the design addressed all stakeholders’ needs.

The new website is more user friendly, searchable, materials focused and integrated through links with other NCDOT departments and their respective guidance documents.
