Sunrail Transit Corridor Surveying and Mapping Services

Originally described as the Central Florida Commuter Rail Transit (CFCRT) project, DRMP was part of a much larger survey team tasked with providing surveying and mapping services for a total of 65 miles of CSX railroad corridor for the SunRail project in Central Florida.

DRMP surveying staff provided two boundary surveys to the District. The first was a nine-mile portion along the existing CSX railroad mainline from Benson Junction in DeBary (Volusia County) to 3500-feet south of SR 417, in Seminole County, to support the acquisition process.  The second was a 4-mile survey of existing CSX railroad spur line “Aloma Spur” through a portion of Seminole County. Deliverables included topographic surveys, boundary surveys, review of third party agreements and preparation of legal descriptions. To meet the aggressive schedule survey crews were deployed from Deland, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Chipley. Four professional surveyors were assigned to the project along with three survey technicians and seven survey crews.

SunRail Phase 1 officially opened for service on May 1, 2017 and covers 32-miles from the City of DeBary in Volusia County to Sand Lake Road in Orange County. Phase 1 includes 12 stations and currently runs 36 train trips per day.
