Wekiva Parkway Segment 8

The completion of the Wekiva Parkway Segment 8 project, focused at the I-4/SR 429/SR 417 interchange, will provide relief to the traffic congestion along I-4 in Downtown Orlando. In order to update I-4 and SR 417 in both directions, the existing exits need to be updated to loop interchanges. Ramps on the westbound side of I-4 in Seminole County, Florida need to be extended and braided ramps need to be converted to oval ramps.

For the survey portion of the project, DRMP updated the existing design files from previous surveys with up-to-date data from terrestrial mobile LiDAR scans. Portions of I-4, SR 417, ramps and side streets were included in the project scope. Rhinehart Road, International Parkway, Towne Center Boulevard, H. E. Thomas, Jr. Parkway and SR 46 were all a part of the project. Our survey staff worked to generate point clouds for all roadways and bridges to accurately map all breaklines within the coverage area using TopoDOT extraction software. This updated data was merged with existing files to provide the engineers with the most up-to-date representation of the corridor.

DRMP delivered an accurate model and maintained safety throughout the duration of the field survey services.
