DRMP Accelerating Leadership Transition Plan for Future Growth
September 8th, 2022
Orlando, Fla. – Accelerating its leadership transition plan as part of its strategic growth, DRMP leadership has decided to separate the role of its President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) into two leadership positions to guide the firm into the future. Effective immediately, Larry Smith Jr., PE, LEED GA will remain in the role of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for DRMP and Glenn Lusink, PSM, current Chief Operations Officer, will assume the role of President and continue to serve on the Board of Directors.
DRMP has invested years of planning, training and strategy in the succession of its leadership to make sure the transition would be made seamlessly for the firm, its staff, and its clients when the time was needed.
For the past three years, Lusink, who has been with DRMP for 38 years, has been working in the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO). As COO, he was working closely with Smith in preparation for assuming the role of President/CEO upon Smith’s retirement.
“This change in our leadership structure at this time is an important step to ensure the daily operations of our business are being guided and overseen by a leader with the availability to pay full attention to our firm’s needs,” said Smith. “In recent months, my time and responsibilities have increased considerably as the executive in charge of the Trilon Transportation Platform. I am fully confident that making this transition now is the best decision for DRMP and Glenn is ready to step into the role of DRMP President.”
As COO, Lusink has been involved with managing DRMP’s daily business operations and serving as a leader for many of the firm’s strategic growth initiatives including developing and implementing the firm’s new organizational structure.
“Over the past several years, we have been methodically planning for leadership transitions due to retirements and for the essential need to continue to provide growth opportunities for leadership and staff at all levels,” said Lusink. “As DRMP’s new President, I plan to continue to steer DRMP toward a cultural environment that provides growth and opportunity for our staff as we continue to embrace a people-first organization. It is important to me and all DRMP leadership to keep our staff engaged and excited about the projects they work on, delivering quality services to the clients we serve and essentially the impact our expertise makes on creating sustainable community infrastructure.”
As the Trilon Transportation Platform CEO, Smith is responsible for DRMP and two additional partner firms, Ramey Kemp and Associates and Alta Planning + Design. Currently, that is a total of 830 staff reporting up through the transportation platform.
“We are lucky to have strong leadership within DRMP that allows us to open up this opportunity and it will be a first for DRMP to have its President/CEO role split,” said Smith. “I am confident that with both Glenn and I working together as leaders for DRMP that we will continue to see growth, opportunity, and success for our staff and ultimately for our clients and their communities.”
